Welcome to My Personal Page
In October of last year, Mike spent three weeks in the hardest hit region of the Bahamas, Marsh Harbor, where Cat 5 Hurricane Dorian hovered for days. With zero power on the Island, there was zero drinkable water. Mike's mission was to take ocean water that had been converted through a process to make it drinkable, and deliver it in 250-gallon tanks to designated locations on the Island. This was no small task, with no street signs left standing and no GPS service. Mike was also largely in charge of scrounging for food and supplies to make dinner nightly for the team. It was a blessing to the Bahamians, and to Mike as well, to be a part of this endeavor. Mike values the special, lasting friendships he made with the Water Mission and World Central Kitchen teams, and some locals.
On March 21st, Mike and I will be walking for the third year to help Water Mission provide safe water and sanitation to people in need around the world. I am excited to help Water Mission change lives, one community at a time, through their sustainable safe water solutions. Water Mission engineers have been designing, building, and implementing safe water since 2001. After installing a system, they then teach the receiving community how to maintain it themselves, encouraging residents to contribute in some way, and take ownership, in order to receive the benefits of using it.
Charity Navigator has awarded Water Mission a top four-star rating 11 years in a row. Motivated by faith in God, Water Mission serves everyone regardless of religion, by providing safe water and sharing the Gospel. Please consider helping this mission by supporting my Walk on March 21st. Each dollar you donate will be used to provide a safe water community development project to people who really need it.
Thanks!
