FAQ's

When and where is the Beaufort Walk for Water?
The 2020 Beaufort Walk for Water is Saturday, September 26. This year, we encourage all registered walkers to do a roughly 3-mile walk by yourself or with family, friends, co-workers or neighbors at a time and in a location that's comfortable for you. We call this a Virtual Walk. Ideally you would walk on September 26, but if that doesn't work, you can pick your time and date. Maybe you'll walk in your neighborhood, across one of our bridges, in Port Royal, or on the Spanish Moss trail? This is your choice. What matters is we want YOU to be a part of this amazing group effort to provide safe water to those in need.

How much does registration cost?
Adult (Ages 23+): $20
Students (Ages 16-22): $15
Youth (Ages 8-15): $5
Child 7 and under: Free

What's this event like?
Participants walk a 3-mile route of your choice. We encourage walkers to carry a bucket or another water-carrying container (not provided) containing any amount of water as this symbolizes the walk women and children make every single day to collect unsafe water. You pick your own location; maybe a beautiful neighborhood, across a bridge, on the Spanish Moss Trail or at Waterfront Park—anywhere in your local community works. Remember to share about your walk on social media using #BeaufortWalkforWater.

Where do donations go?
All registration fees and donations go directly to providing access to clean, safe water in communities around the world through the work of Water Mission – whether you decide to join the group walk in Port Royal or prefer a virtual walk.

Will I still get a T-shirt? And how do I pick it up?
Yes, all pre-registered participants will receive a T-shirt. Requested sizes are only guaranteed only for those who register by August 29. You'll be able to pick up your T-shirt the week leading up to September 26. We'll post details on pick-up times and locations on social media, and send registered walkers an email ahead of time.

Can I register the morning of the Walk?
Yes, but T-shirts are only guaranteed with advanced registration. If you register after the T-shirt pick-up times, shirts are only available while supplies last.

How can I feel part of the Beaufort Walk for Water if I just walk by myself?
We have resources to help you feel part of the bigger Beaufort Walk for Water community. Our virtual walk instructions includes things like a music playlist, ideas for children's activities, and fun and interesting ways to share about your engagement with your friends and family.

Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @BeaufortWalkforWater and Twitter @BftWalkforWater for easy-to-share social media posts and fundraising ideas. Remember to use #BeaufortWalkforWater in your posts!

Why should I raise funds?
The Beaufort Walk for Water provides an amazing opportunity to help raise awareness and support for Water Mission's ongoing efforts to fight the global water crisis. Your friends, family, co-workers and classmates care about what you care about, and they want a way to do something that's bigger than themselves. Together, you can change lives.

Check out our fundraising resources guide for tools for raising funds on social media and facts you can easily share with others about the need that exists for safe water.

How do I join or create a virtual team?
There is only one type of walker or team registration, same as previous years, with no need to specify anything about the virtual walk.

Can I join a team after I've already registered?
Yes! Please email walk@watermission.org to be added to a team.

Do I need to join a team to Walk for Water?
No. You can register for the Walk as an individual.

Is this event suitable for children?
Yes, this is an event for all ages. See our virtual walk instructions for children's activities (e.g. an "I Spy" game) to get them involved and engaged.
