You’ll also be able to download additional social media resources online.
What is your refund policy?
In the unlikely event that the Walk must shift to a completely virtual format, your walker fee and any donations made will still enable Water Mission to provide access to clean, safe water in communities around the world. We are unable to refund any contributions. As we try to prioritize your health and safety amid the uncertainties of COVID-19, we thank you for your flexibility. WALK AT RIVERFRONT PARK
What does a staggered start mean for the Walk?
A staggered start means we will limit the number of people gathering in Riverfront Park at any given time. When you register online, you’ll be able to select the time you’d like to begin your Walk in Riverfront Park. You’ll have 30 minutes after your selected start time to arrive and begin your Walk.
What should I do when I arrive at the Walk in Riverfront Park on March 20?
When you arrive at Riverfront Park (1061 Everglades Ave, N. Charleston), follow the signs to the designated start line and grab an empty bucket. Once you’ve reached the Walk banner, you’ll start your Walk and be on your way!
What should I do if I want to change my Walk time slot?
Please email email@example.com if you would like to change your walk time slot. We will try to accommodate all changes, but that may not be possible if time slots have already reached capacity.
Where should I go if I want to register on the day of the Walk?
In order to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding social distancing, we are not offering day-of registration at Riverfront Park this year. You can, however, register on the day of the Walk to walk in your own neighborhood.
What can I expect on Walk day?
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are working to eliminate touch points and reduce areas that may cause crowding at Riverfront Park. We will have restrooms, a drinking water station, and handwashing stations available in the Park. A water station will be available at the halfway point as well.
Why is there a virtual Walk option for the event?
The safety of our participants is our top priority. Due to COVID-19 we have created an alternate Walk option. This will give you the flexibility to participate in the Walk for Water by walking whenever and wherever you choose.
What is the virtual Walk option?
This Walk option allows you to participate in Water Mission’s annual Walk for Water at the location and time of your choosing. Walkers from many locations will join together virtually to raise awareness and funds to combat the global water crisis. We encourage you to walk a three-mile route in your neighborhood, in a park, on a beach, or wherever you choose. You can generate awareness for the global water crisis by taking photos throughout your Walk—wearing your Walk t-shirt—and posting on social media using the hashtag #walkforwaterCHS. We also encourage you to look at our Virtual Walk Instructions.
Will I walk on my own the same day as the Walk taking place at Riverfront Park?
Yes, both options for participating in the 2021 Walk for Water will take place on Saturday, March 20. A virtual kick-off will be broadcast on Facebook Live at 9:00 a.m.
Do I need to register for the virtual Walk for Water?
Yes, we encourage anyone joining the Walk for Water—whether at Riverfront Park or virtually—to register and share about the global water crisis. Walker fees and donations for the Walk for Water enable Water Mission to provide access to clean, safe water in communities around the world. All registered participants will receive a Walk for Water t-shirt and Walk participant materials.
Can I walk on a day other than March 20?
Yes! You are welcome to take part in the virtual Walk for Water on a day that suits your schedule.
