Why We Walk  

2.2 billion people around the world lack access to safe water. That's one-third of the world's population.

Everyday, millions of women and children in developing countries walk an average of 3.5 miles (5.6 km) to retrieve water for their family's daily needs. In most cases, even after walking for miles and miles, the water they have to drink is contaminated.

On September 19, 2020 the Silicon Valley Discipleship Virtual Walk for Water will walk in honor of our neighbors in remote Peru who walk to collect water every single day. Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 to provide them with water filtration systems. Juan Simon, Country Director for Water Mission Peru, shares the unique challenges and needs of communities in this area in the video below:
