Frequently Asked Questions

What day is the Walk for Water?
Saturday, October 26th, 2019

What time does the Walk begin?
Opening ceremonies begin promptly at 9:00 AM at Burt Process headquarters, 100 Overlook Dr, Hamden.

How much does registration cost?
Registration is free to all participants.

How long does the Walk for Water take?
The Walk is approximately 3 miles, which takes about an hour to complete. Refreshments will be served after the walk and the closing ceremony will take place around 12 noon.

What is this event like?
After the opening ceremonies, every participant will take a two-gallon bucket (provided at the event) and begin to walk a three mile route from Burt Process, down the hill, across Sherman Ave and then along the bike path for approximately another half a mile. Walkers fill their bucket with dirty water and carry it back to Burt Process. The walk is symbolic of the trek that women and children make every single day to collect unsafe water.

Do I have to fill my bucket to the top?
No, you can fill the bucket to your desired level. If you do not feel you can complete the Walk with a bucket, you are welcome to walk without one. If needed, there will be cars shuttling folks back up the hill to Burt Process.

Is this event suitable for children?
Yes, this is an event for all ages. It is engaging, informative, and impactful. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.

Can I join a team after I've already registered?
Yes. Please email jkunasek@watermission.org to be added to a team.

Can I volunteer at the Walk for Water?
Yes, we need volunteers to make the Walk successful. To sign up for volunteer roles, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at sueburt@burtprocess.com.
