Where should I park for the event?
One of the closest lots to Upper Landing Park is the Science Museum of MN parking ramp. The Science Museum (120 W. Kellogg Boulevard) parking ramp is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day and is $10 for the full day. Once parked take the elevator to the Bear level and exit the garage on the side of Shepard Rd. Then walk directly across Shepard. There are also many additional parking options near Upper Landing Park too.

Can I register the morning of the Walk?
Yes. You can register in-person the morning of the walk from 8-9 a.m. at Upper Landing Park.

What do I get with my registration?
Registration provides a bucket to use, shirt, day-of snacks and entertainment/activities at the Walk for Water.

How long is the Walk route?
The Walk is approximately 3 miles.

What is this event like?
After opening ceremonies, every participant will take a 2-gallon bucket (provided for use at the event) and begin to walk a three-mile route. Halfway through the route, walkers fill their bucket with dirty water and carry it back through the park and empty it into the Water Mission Living Water Treatment System. This system is used by communities to build and sustain a safe source of drinking water in developing countries and disaster areas. The walk is symbolic of the walk that women and children make every single day to collect unsafe water.

Do I have to fill my bucket to the top?
You can fill the bucket to your desired level. If you do not feel you can complete the walk with a bucket, you are welcome to walk without one.

Can my friends and family register for the Walk?
Yes! We encourage you to reach out to your family, friends, and community inviting them to Walk for Water with you!

Is this event suitable for children?
Absolutely! Not only is it a great opportunity to teach children about the global water crisis, but there will also be many family-friendly activities on top of the Walk itself. The Walk route is stroller-friendly, so feel free to bring the entire family!

Can my dog (or other pets) walk for water?
Absolutely! We look forward to meeting your furry friends. Please just keep them on a leash.

Are my donations, or the donations of any of my friends and family members, tax deductible?
Yes! Water Mission is a 501(c)(3) organization. At the time of the online donation, all credit card donors should receive a confirmation by email that can serve as a receipt for tax purposes. Cash and check donations can also receive receipts as long as personal contact information is clearly included when Water Mission receives the donation. All donation types will be accepted onsite at the Walk.

Can I join a team after I've already registered?
Yes! Please email the name of the walker and the team name to walk@watermission.org to be added.
